L’Oreal to remove words like ‘whitening’ from its skin care products

PARIS — French cosmetics large L’Oreal says it is going to take away phrases like “whitening” from its skincare merchandise following criticism of the corporate amid world protests towards racism.

L’Oreal mentioned in an announcement Saturday that it “has determined to take away the phrases white/whitening, honest/equity, mild/lightening from all its pores and skin night merchandise.”

The choice follows the same transfer by Anglo-Dutch firm Unilever on Thursday.

Earlier this month, L’Oreal tweeted that that it “stands in solidarity with the Black group and towards injustice of any variety.”

The publish drew a damaging response from individuals who see the corporate’s enterprise mannequin and promoting as centered on white shoppers.
